  Darwin Region Institutional Biosafety Committee

Chair: Mrs Sue Hutton

The Darwin Region Institutional Biosafety Committee is administered by the Menzies School of Health Research and supports 4 organisations conducting genetic research in the region - these organisations include the Charles Darwin University (plants), the NT Department of Business, Industry & Resource Development (animals), the CSIRO's Darwin Plant Laboratories and MSHR (human health).

The Committee is constituted and administered in accordance with the Commonwealth Gene Technology Act (2000) and reports to the Office of the Gene Technology Regulator (OGTR), as well as to the Heads of the supported organisations.

There are two scheduled meetings per year - 30 March and 7 September 2007 - when the Committee meets to consider project applications and inspect laboratory facilities.
